Why We Only Set Up Outdoors on Grass

For outdoor hires, we only install inflatables on suitable natural grass or soil. This is not simply a business preference. It is a safety decision based on the need to secure every inflatable correctly and reliably.

Secure Anchorage Is Essential

An outdoor inflatable must be anchored securely at every required anchorage point. Suitable ground allows professional stakes to be driven into the soil so the inflatable can be properly restrained during use.

Grass Allows Proper Staking

Natural grass with suitable soil underneath allows us to install ground stakes at the correct angle and depth, helping provide strong and reliable anchorage.

Hard Surfaces Limit Anchorage

Concrete, tarmac, paving and driveways do not allow normal ground stakes to be used. We do not believe alternative arrangements would always provide the level of restraint required for our outdoor hires.

Wind Creates Significant Forces

Even moderate wind can place considerable force on an inflatable. Correct anchoring is essential to help prevent movement, lifting or instability.

Safety Comes Before a Booking

We would rather decline an unsuitable setup than accept a booking where we are not fully confident in the strength and reliability of the anchorage.

Artificial Grass May Hide the Surface Below

Artificial grass can cover concrete, compacted stone, membranes, drainage systems or other hidden layers. This can prevent safe staking and may also cause damage to the surface.

Every Garden Is Checked

Grass alone does not automatically make a location suitable. We still assess the ground, slope, space, access, overhead hazards and surrounding conditions before setting up.

Surfaces We Do Not Normally Use Outdoors

We do not normally set up outdoor inflatables on:

Concrete
Tarmac
Block paving
Patios
Driveways
Gravel or loose stone
Decking
Artificial grass
Any surface where secure ground stakes cannot be used

What Makes a Suitable Grass Setup Area?

Natural grass with suitable soil underneath.
Enough space for the inflatable and required safety clearance.
Firm, reasonably level ground.
No underground obstructions that prevent safe staking.
No low branches, washing lines or overhead cables.
Clear access from our vehicle to the setup location.
A suitable power supply within the agreed distance.

Why We Cannot Simply Use Sandbags Outdoors

Sandbags may be useful in some controlled indoor environments, but outdoor wind exposure can create much greater forces. For our outdoor hires, we require suitable ground that allows proper staking rather than relying on weights alone.

Alternative Options

If your garden does not have suitable natural grass, you may still be able to enjoy one of our inflatables at an indoor venue. Village halls, community centres, schools and sports facilities can often provide a suitable alternative, subject to space, ceiling height, access and venue permission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you set up on my driveway for just a few hours?

No. The length of the hire does not remove the need for correct anchorage. We only set up outdoors where the inflatable can be safely secured into suitable natural ground.

What if the driveway is sheltered?

A sheltered location may still experience wind and does not solve the anchorage issue. We must be confident that every setup can be securely restrained.

Can you put stakes through artificial grass?

We do not normally stake through artificial grass because the surface below may be unsuitable or unknown, and staking may damage the installation or hidden services.

Can the inflatable partly sit on grass and partly on paving?

Usually no. The entire inflatable and its required anchorage area must fit safely within the suitable setup space. We can assess the measurements before booking.

Will you confirm suitability before the event?

We ask for accurate measurements and surface details during booking. Final suitability is always subject to our assessment when we arrive at the location.
