Our Safety Checks Before Every Hire
Before an inflatable is handed over for use, Rugby Inflatables completes a structured series of checks covering the equipment, installation area, anchoring, electrical equipment, operating pressure and other relevant safety considerations.
Every setup is different, so these checks are supported by an assessment of the actual conditions we find when we arrive.
An Important Part of Every Setup
Every Location Is Assessed Individually
No two gardens, halls, schools or venues are exactly the same. We assess the actual location and will not hand equipment over for use where we are not satisfied that it can be appropriately installed and operated.
Checks Begin Before We Arrive
Safety preparation starts before the equipment is loaded for your booking. Equipment is prepared and its condition considered as part of our pre-hire process.

Our On-Site Safety Checks
Once we arrive, we work through the setup process before handing the inflatable over to the responsible adult.

Site Inspection
Before installation, we assess the proposed setup location.
- Surface or floor suitability.
- Available operating space.
- Overhead and surrounding hazards.
- Access to the installation area.
- General site conditions.

Inflatable Condition
The inflatable is observed as it is positioned and inflated.
- General fabric condition.
- Seams and stitching.
- Anchor points and webbing.
- Entrance and step areas.
- Netting and safety features.
- Inflation tubes and closures.

Anchoring & Restraint
The inflatable is secured using the appropriate anchoring or restraint arrangements for the approved installation environment.
- Outdoor hires require suitable natural grass or soil.
- Relevant ground anchors are installed securely.
- Anchor straps and connection points are checked.
- Indoor setups use suitable alternative restraint arrangements.
- The setup must remain appropriately secured throughout use.

Outdoor Weather & Wind
For outdoor hires, current weather conditions form part of our setup assessment.
- An anemometer is used to assess local wind conditions.
- Wind gusts must be considered, not just average wind speed.
- 24 mph is the general maximum operating limit.
- A lower manufacturer-specified limit takes priority where applicable.
- Use must stop sooner if conditions otherwise become unsafe.

Operating Pressure
Correct inflation is an important part of safe operation.
- A manometer is used during setup.
- The operating pressure is checked.
- Blower performance is observed.
- The inflatable is checked for appropriate inflation.
- Pressure concerns must be resolved before handover.

Electrical Safety
The blower and associated electrical equipment are positioned and connected with safety in mind.
- Blower and leads visually checked.
- Suitable electrical supply confirmed.
- RCD protection used.
- Cables positioned to reduce avoidable hazards.
- Relevant electrical equipment maintained and PAT tested.

Blower & Inflation System
The blower and inflation system must be able to operate without inappropriate restriction or interference.
- Blower positioned away from the main play area.
- Inflation tube fitted appropriately.
- Airflow checked.
- Cables and equipment positioned appropriately.
- Customers instructed not to move or interfere with the blower.

Final Handover
Before leaving a standard unattended hire, we complete the final handover with the responsible adult.
- Final operating position checked.
- Important safety rules explained.
- Supervision requirements explained.
- Site-specific information provided where necessary.
- Outdoor wind-monitoring information provided where applicable.
A Responsible Adult Aged 18+ Must Be Present
For standard unattended hires, a responsible adult aged 18 or over must be available for the handover and must actively supervise the inflatable throughout use.
Inspection, Testing & Documentation
The checks completed on the day sit alongside our wider equipment-management arrangements.
PIPA Testing
Applicable inflatables are independently inspected through the PIPA scheme.
Electrical Testing
Relevant electrical equipment is maintained and PAT tested.
Risk Assessments
Controlled risk assessments support our operating arrangements.
Operating Procedures
Written procedures support consistent setup and operation.

Safety Continues After Handover
Once a standard unattended hire has been handed over, the responsible adult must continue supervising the equipment and following the information provided.
✓ Active adult supervision
✓ Follow user limits and operating rules
✓ Prevent overcrowding and unsafe behaviour
✓ Keep food, drinks and sharp items away
✓ No face paint on our inflatable equipment
✓ Do not move or alter the setup
✓ Continue outdoor weather monitoring
✓ Stop use if a safety concern develops
If Something Doesn't Look Right, Stop Use
If the inflatable starts losing pressure, the blower stops, the equipment moves unexpectedly, weather becomes unsafe or another concern develops, users must be removed and use stopped.
Customers should not attempt to move the inflatable, change anchorage arrangements or carry out repairs themselves. Contact Rugby Inflatables if assistance is required.
We Will Not Compromise on Safety
Occasionally, the conditions we find when we arrive may mean the planned setup cannot safely proceed.
Unsuitable ground, insufficient space, unsafe weather, restricted access, electrical-supply problems or another significant safety concern may mean we need to refuse, alter, postpone or stop the setup.
