Weather Updates & Inflatable Hire Guidance
Weather can affect outdoor inflatable hire at any time of year.
This page explains how Rugby Inflatables monitors wind, rain, heat and ground conditions, when we contact customers and what may happen if an outdoor hire cannot safely proceed.
General Weather Information
Checking the Weather for Your Booking
This page does not provide a live weather forecast.
We monitor forecasts for upcoming outdoor bookings and contact customers where there is a genuine concern about whether the hire can proceed safely.
Customers should continue checking their booking emails, text messages and other contact channels as their hire date approaches.
Our Outdoor Hire Season
Rugby Inflatables normally offers outdoor inflatable hires from early April through to the end of September.
From October through to 31 March, our inflatable hires are indoors only.

Wind Conditions
Wind is one of the most important safety considerations for outdoor inflatable hire.
We will not operate an inflatable where wind conditions exceed the applicable safe limit.
- Forecasts are checked before outdoor hires.
- Local wind conditions are considered during setup.
- An anemometer is supplied with outdoor hires.
- Customers must continue monitoring conditions throughout use.
- Wind gusts must be considered, not only average wind speed.
- Use must stop where conditions become unsafe.
Maximum operating wind
Outdoor inflatables must not be used when wind speeds or gusts reach 24 mph (38 km/h) or above, or earlier where the manufacturer specifies a lower maximum limit.

Rain & Wet Weather
Light, occasional rain may not always result in cancellation, but prolonged or heavy rain can make an outdoor hire unsuitable.
- Wet inflatable surfaces can become slippery.
- Heavy rainfall can affect supervision and visibility.
- Waterlogged ground may prevent secure anchoring.
- Standing water can make the setup unsuitable.
- Electrical equipment must remain suitably protected.
- Continued poor weather may make the hire impractical or unsafe.
Ground conditions matter too
A dry forecast on the day does not guarantee that the garden will be suitable if earlier rainfall has left the ground very soft, muddy or waterlogged.

Hot Weather
High temperatures and strong direct sunlight can also affect the safe and comfortable use of an inflatable.
- Inflatable surfaces can become hot in direct sunlight.
- Children should take regular rest breaks.
- Drinking water should be readily available.
- A shaded rest area is recommended where possible.
- Supervisors should watch for signs of overheating or discomfort.
Extreme heat
Rugby Inflatables may refuse, pause, shorten or cancel an outdoor hire where excessive heat or direct sun creates a safety concern that cannot be reasonably managed.

Ground Conditions
Suitable ground is required even where the weather itself is dry on the day of the booking.
Previous rainfall may leave the setup area too soft, waterlogged, muddy or otherwise unsuitable for secure anchoring.
- The area must be suitable natural grass or soil.
- The ground should be reasonably level.
- Standing water must not be present.
- The setup area must remain safely accessible.
- Ground anchors must be capable of being securely installed.
Final assessment
The setup team will assess the location on arrival. A hire may be unable to proceed where the actual ground or site conditions are unsuitable.

Forecasts can change frequently, so we avoid making decisions unnecessarily far in advance.

We Monitor
We review the latest forecast as the booking approaches, including wind gusts, expected rainfall and temperature.

Where the forecast creates a genuine concern, we contact the customer and explain the situation and available options.

We Make a Safety-Led Decision
The final decision is based on the latest reliable information, actual site conditions and whether the equipment can be operated safely.
What Happens if Weather Prevents the Hire?
If Rugby Inflatables determines that an outdoor hire cannot safely proceed because of unsuitable weather conditions, we will contact you and explain the available options.
Our current weather arrangements allow eligible customers to rebook within the applicable period, subject to availability and our Terms & Conditions.
Where a refund option applies, the amount above the non-refundable booking deposit may be refunded in accordance with our current booking terms.

Weather monitoring sits alongside site assessment, anchoring, operating pressure checks, electrical safety, customer handover and supervision requirements.
Weather Questions
When will you contact me about the weather?
We normally contact customers once the forecast becomes sufficiently reliable and there is a genuine concern about whether the hire can safely proceed.
Will you cancel because rain is forecast?
Not every rain forecast results in cancellation. We consider the expected intensity and duration, ground conditions and whether the hire remains practical and safe.
What happens if the forecast changes after setup?
Customers must continue monitoring conditions during an outdoor hire. If wind, rain, heat or another condition becomes unsafe, use must stop and users must be removed from the inflatable.
Can an indoor venue avoid weather problems?
Indoor venues remove many outdoor weather concerns, although the venue must still provide suitable access, floor space, ceiling clearance, electrical supply and permission for inflatable equipment.
What happens if Rugby Inflatables cancels the hire?
We will contact you and explain the applicable options under the current booking Terms & Conditions, including any eligible rebooking or refund arrangements.
