Garden Bouncy Castle Hire in Rugby
Everything you need to know before hiring a bouncy castle for your garden with Rugby Inflatables.
Planning a birthday party or celebration at home? Hiring a bouncy castle can transform your garden into a fantastic party space without needing to hire a venue.
Before booking, however, there are a few important things to check. Your garden needs enough space, suitable access, an appropriate setup surface and nearby electrical power.
This guide explains what you need to know before booking an outdoor garden hire with Rugby Inflatables.
Is Your Garden Suitable?
Before choosing your inflatable, check these five things:
- Space: Is there enough clear space for the inflatable and its required safety area?
- Surface: Is the setup area suitable grass or soil?
- Access: Can we safely transport the inflatable from our vehicle into the garden?
- Power: Is there a suitable mains electrical socket within reach?
- Surroundings: Is the area clear of obstacles, trees, washing lines and other hazards?
1. Your Garden Needs a Suitable Surface
Our outdoor inflatables need to be correctly anchored into the ground, so garden hires must have a suitable grass or soil setup area.
Heavy-duty ground stakes are used to secure the inflatable at its designated anchorage points.
Outdoor surfaces we do not set up on include:
- Concrete
- Tarmac
- Patios or paving
- Decking
- Artificial grass
2. Measure Your Garden Before Booking
The dimensions shown for an inflatable are not necessarily the total amount of garden space required.
Additional clear space is required around the equipment so it can be safely installed, anchored and operated.
When measuring, check the usable clear area rather than the overall size of your garden.
If you're unsure whether an inflatable will fit, contact us before booking and we'll be happy to help.
How to Measure the Setup Area
Measure the width and length of the clear grass area where you would like the inflatable positioned.
When measuring, don't include areas occupied by:
- Sheds or outbuildings
- Trees and large bushes
- Patios
- Play equipment
- Raised beds
- Permanent garden furniture
- Other obstacles
It's always better to provide us with accurate measurements rather than estimating the available space.
3. Don't Forget to Look Up
Width and length aren't the only measurements that matter.
There also needs to be suitable clearance above and around the inflatable.
Look for potential obstacles such as:
- Overhanging tree branches
- Washing lines
- Gazebos
- Pergolas
- Cables
- Other overhead obstructions
4. Check Your Garden Access
Our inflatables are heavy when packed and need to be transported from our vehicle to the setup area using specialist handling equipment.
Please make sure there is a clear and suitable route into your garden.
When checking access, consider:
- Gate width
- Narrow passages
- Sharp turns
- Steps
- Slopes
- Gravel
- Vehicles blocking access
- Objects stored along pathways
Minimum access
As a general requirement, please ensure there is at least 3 ft of clear access for our delivery team and equipment unless we have agreed otherwise beforehand.
5. Electrical Power
Inflatable blowers require continuous electrical power while the equipment is in use.
You'll need a suitable mains electrical socket available for each inflatable unless alternative arrangements have been agreed with us.
We carry suitable electrical equipment for our installations, including extension leads and electrical protection.
Please don't connect additional extension leads or alter the electrical setup after we've installed the equipment.
6. Preparing Your Garden
Having the area ready before we arrive helps us complete the installation efficiently and safely.
Please remove:
- Garden furniture
- Children's toys
- Paddling pools
- Football goals
- Garden ornaments
- Sharp objects and debris
- Animal mess
- Anything else within the proposed setup area
Please also make sure the grass is reasonably maintained and accessible.
7. Underground Services
Ground stakes are driven into the soil to safely anchor outdoor inflatables.
You should tell us before installation if you know or suspect that underground services are located within the proposed setup area.
This can include electrical cables, water pipes, drainage, irrigation systems or other buried services.
8. Outdoor Hires Depend on the Weather
Unfortunately, nobody can control the British weather.
Outdoor inflatable hire can only take place when conditions are safe.
We monitor weather forecasts where conditions may affect upcoming bookings and may contact you if we have concerns.
Conditions that can affect a hire include:
- Strong winds or gusts
- Heavy or persistent rain
- Waterlogged or unsafe ground
- Thunderstorms
- Other extreme or unsafe weather conditions
Wind Safety
Wind speed is one of the most important considerations for outdoor inflatable hire.
Our inflatables must not be operated when wind conditions exceed their permitted operating limits. The maximum permitted wind speed for our inflatables is 24 mph.
Where required, an anemometer is provided so conditions can continue to be monitored during your hire.
9. We'll Complete a Final Check on Arrival
Even when you've provided measurements, photographs or information beforehand, we still complete a final assessment when we arrive.
The inflatable will only be installed if our team is satisfied that the location, surface, access, available space, weather conditions and surrounding environment allow us to set it up safely.
10. Supervision During Your Hire
A responsible adult aged 18 or over must supervise the inflatable while it is being used.
We'll provide important safety and operating information when the equipment is handed over.
The responsible adult should make sure users follow the rules, the inflatable isn't overcrowded and the equipment is stopped from use if conditions become unsafe.
Face Paint, Food and Drinks
Food, drinks, chewing gum and other substances should be kept away from our inflatables.
We also don't normally allow face paint on our inflatables because some products can permanently stain or damage the material.
11. Collection
We'll return during the collection arrangements for your booking to dismantle and remove the inflatable.
Please keep the access route clear so we can safely remove the equipment.
Please don't deflate, move, disconnect or attempt to pack away the inflatable yourself unless we've specifically asked you to do so.
Garden Hire FAQs
Can you put a bouncy castle on artificial grass?
We don't normally install our outdoor inflatables on artificial grass because the inflatable needs to be securely anchored using suitable ground stakes.
Can you put a bouncy castle on concrete?
Our standard outdoor garden hires require a suitable grass or soil surface. We don't normally install garden hires on concrete, patios, paving or other hard surfaces.
What if I'm not sure my garden is big enough?
Measure the clear usable area and contact us before booking. We can help you choose an inflatable that is appropriate for the available space.
What happens if it rains?
This depends on the severity and expected duration of the weather. Where conditions would make the hire unsafe, we may be unable to proceed in accordance with our adverse weather procedures.
Can the inflatable stay overnight?
No. We don't offer overnight garden hires. Equipment is collected in accordance with the collection arrangements for your booking.
Can you decide the garden isn't suitable when you arrive?
Yes. Safety must come first. If the actual site conditions mean the inflatable cannot be installed safely, we may be unable to proceed with the setup.
